EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE RICE COOKER RECIPE

This is a moist, chocolatey, light sponge cake in every bite. Ridiculously easy to make chocolate cake rice cooker recipe for afternoon tea.

It is perfect if you don’t have an oven.

This chocolate cake recipe made using a rice cooker could not be easier.

Gather all the ingredients, mix them in a bowl, pop in the rice cooker, press the button and all you need to do is wait.

A quick reminder: not all cake recipes can be made in a rice cooker.

This recipe works well both in an oven and a rice cooker.

Make sure that you print the recipe and stick it on your fridge door for reference.

This recipe is actually a recipe for a sponge cake which for some reason (a good one) works well.

The only difference is we take out two tablespoons and another teaspoon of flour and replace it with cocoa powder and instant coffee.

The texture of this cake is different from those baked in an oven but it works well every time so, whenever we fancied a slice of cake we make use of this chocolate cake recipe.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients used for this recipe. For the exact amount of each ingredient, please see the recipe card below.

  • butter – use softened unsalted butter
  • caster sugar – granulated sugar could be used instead of caster but the texture may turn out gritty. Grind the granulated sugar in a blender of coffee grinder to finely grind and use a usual.
  • eggs
  • vanilla extract
  • self-raising flour – if not self-raising flour is not available substitute with plain-flour with 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • cocoa powder – unsweetened cocoa powder
  • coffee – I use instant coffee granules

Suggested topping for the chocolate cake

  • dust with icing sugar
  • chocolate icing
  • fruit plus icing sugar

How to make Chocolate cake in a rice cooker

  1. Grease and flour the bowl of the rice cooker if it is not non-stick.
  2. Sift the dry ingredients.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time and mix.
  5. Add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  6. Pop in the rice cooker.
  7. Choose the cake setting on the rice cooker.
  8. Test the cake with a toothpick or if the cake springs back it is ready.
  9. Let the cake cool for 5 minutes in the rice cooker after cooking.
  10. You are welcome to ice the cake. Today we topped it with fresh fruit and sprinkled icing sugar (just because we wanted it badly).

  • sprinkle icing sugar on top
  • serve with choice a of ice cream
  • a dollop of clotted cream
  • pour double cream over

Cooking time will depend on your rice cooker.

EASY CHOCOLATE CAKE RICE COOKER RECIPE

Cook Time 40 minutes
Course Dessert

Ingredients
  

  • 200 grams utter, softened
  • 200 grams caster sugar
  • 200 grams eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 grams self-raising flour
  • 2 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp coffee

Instructions
 

  • Grease and flour the rice cooker's bowl (unless it is non-stick).
  • Sift the dry ingredients.
  • Cream the butter and sugar.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients in the mix.
  • Mix all the ingredients until well combined.
  • Pour mixture into the rice cooker bowl.
  • Press cook on your rice cooker.
  • Test your cake with a skewer to see if it is cooked.
  • Turn out onto a cooling rack to cool and serve with fruit, ice the cake.
